The Chinese firm Xiaomi has globally presented its new mid-range phone, the Redmi Note 8 from 2021. A phone that no one expected, but that the Chinese firm wanted to launch on the occasion of the more than 25 million units sold throughout the world of this model. The fashion of launching minimally refurbished models is not new in order to continue taking advantage of the pull of its commercial name, and that is precisely the case of this Redmi Note 8, which now comes with a minimal change in performance.
What changes in this new Redmi Note 8 2021?
We understand that Xiaomi’s intention was not to create a completely new mobile, but to take advantage of the good name of the terminal to be able to reach those users who have enjoyed it and are thinking of getting a new one. Basically the main difference lies in two aspects. One is the processor, which is now more powerful. It is now a MediaTek Helio G85, which offers us better performance than the original Snapdragon 665. The other is that we now have Bluetooth 5.2, instead of 4.2, thus adapting to the new standards of this connectivity. And for the rest we find the same mobile as in the previous model.
We have a screen of 6.3 inches with Full HD + resolution, with a notch in the shape of a drop, and that does not release a different refresh rate. There is 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage expandable by cards. The camera is the same, with four rear sensors captained by a 48-megapixel one. There’s also an 8-megapixel ultra-wide, a 2-megapixel macro, and a 2-megapixel deep. In front, the camera for video calls and selfies offers us a resolution of 13 megapixels.
There are also no changes to the battery, with 4000mAh capacity and a fast charge of 18W. We have Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, infrared port, USB Type-C connector, FM Radio and a fingerprint reader on the back. A mobile that has the same design as its predecessor, it has not been changed a bit, and therefore the same dimensions, 158.3 x 75.3 x 8.4 mm and a weight of 190 grams. Therefore, it is a full-fledged “revival”, which brings us back one of the best-selling mobiles of recent years. At the moment there is no price, but due to its characteristics it is expected that it will be around 150 euros, if it is finally put on sale in Spain.
