This definitely started out giving me John Green vibes but it ended up being more satisfying because for me, the characters of Violet and Finch felt a little more authentic to me- they had a little more dimension. I found myself thinking about life, grief, depression with a teen lens. I didn’t feel it was emotionally manipulative like I sometimes do with YA books that tackle these issues – it felt more honest to me. I definitely shed some tears while reading this and while watching the movie. I think both were excellent and it’s a great read the book, watch the movie pairing! 💙

  1. This is one of my favorites. I agree about the way this one rings true and feels authentic in the depiction. ❤️ (But also 😭!)
