“There’s a juice box and a bag of potato chips on my desk in my cell” 🧡

I’ve been loving reading books in verse – I think it’s such a powerful format and can reach a wide audience . I know there are many students who attend the charter high schools I work for who would get so much out of this book. It’s a way to discuss institutional racism and systematic oppression and the fact that Yusef Salaam is a contributor is also a way to read more about the experiences of the Exonerated Five. I think the experiences that Yusef Salaam went through are reflected through this fictional situation. Definitely recommend for folks who love Jason Reynolds, Nic Stone and Elizabeth Acevedo. It’s the realistic fiction that my teen son loves. The audiobook to this was wonderful but the visual was also great, I would recommend reading to them in both formats! I loved discussing this with the group- such great insights! Thank you to librofm for the ALC to this 🧡

Thanks for reading with us!!
These are currently our favorite chips! We were eating a ton of Cheetos this spring and summer but now we’ve transitioned over to these. Yummmmm
I really need to grab this one. And one of the authors lives on the next town…
Thanks for the review! I have the book and am looking forward to reading it!
This is on my nightstand waiting to be read!
Loved this one and the discussion! ❤️
Those are my favorite kind of Ruffles. 😋
Those chips are my favorite. I always have a stash in my desk.
