“So after school I eat an apple- my favorite snack- wash dishes, and sweep.” ❤️

I’ve only read one other book in verse (see previous post on Every Body Looking) so it’s a very new genre to me. I thought this was such a powerful book and one that needs to exist for YA BIPOC readers. It’s so well written and relatable. I will say that I loved With the Fire On High more so maybe it’s the book in verse that’s just new to me…. The more I sit with this one the more I marvel at how amazing it is. The relationship between the twins and the best friend just warmed my heart. As always, the author’s narration of this on audio was amazing! I read along with last month and it’s always a great discussion! It was also the September pick for the and loved seeing acevedowrites and annebogel chat together!! Elizabeth Acevedo encouraged readers to try this both in print and audio and maybe even together ! It’s a difference experience with both and both were amazing. Can’t wait to continue reading with Clap When You Land, the newest from Elizabeth Acevedo, who can do no wrong in my book!! ❤️
