“She’d settled in on the couch, a bowl of peanut butter M&Ms (her mom’s old line-learning reward system) on the coffee table, her script on her lap.” ❤️

Had high hopes for this one. Such a unique read (queer Gothic horror?!) and I loved the dark humor in it but I did NOT know this was 600 pages (downfall of kindle) and felt like it dragged on and on for me after a while. It’s not great when you keep looking at the percentage on your kindle, wondering when you’ll be done. It’s dual timelines but has 3 relationship stories and a whole lot of characters. My favorite characters were the yellow jackets actually! I think there will be an audience for this and I think there will be people who will love it but it just wasn’t a love for me, more like an amused like. I did enjoy listening to this on audio and often I find that when I’m struggling with a book, listening to parts of it on audio can often revitalize my interest! Thank you librofm and harperaudio for an ALC of this book! ❤️

  1. I’ve never been a huge fan of audio books myself, but I’ve been pushing it a lot for my students this semester and found a whole new appreciation. (And also, PB M&Ms are my favorite!) ❤️

  2. This one IS long but so good. I thought the narrator for this was fantastic. I need to reread it via audiobook soon.
