Last year, trusted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported that the Apple Watch Series 7 would feature some kind of design change. Now, a new rumor suggests that the Apple Watch will be redesigned with a flat-edge design similar to its other recent hardware updates, as well as launching a new color option.
The Apple Watch will be redesigned
The rumor comes from the tech analyst Jon prosser, who revealed the information in his own way in an episode of his podcast Genius Bar with Sam Kohl (via AppleTrack). Prosser apparently has more information and perhaps versions of the redesign coming soon, but for now he teased that the Apple Watch Series 7 will feature a redesign similar to Apple’s other hardware updates.
This apparently means that the Apple Watch Series 7 will feature a flat-edged design similar to the iPhone 12, iPad Pro, and iPad Air. Kohl and Prosser describe the Apple Watch version of this design as “more subtle” than what we’ve seen on other products.
New designs full of color
The Genius Bar podcast also indicated that the Apple Watch Series 7 will come for the first time in a new green color option, similar to the green that Apple uses in the AirPods Max.
Let us remember what we reported Kuo in September of the other year:
Kuo explains that the Apple Watch Series 6 is expected to resemble the Apple Watch Series 4 and Apple Watch Series 5 form factor, and that the “main selling point” of this year’s update is the addition of oxygen sensing in blood. Looking ahead to 2021, however, the analyst writes that he expects “a significant change in form factor design to come with the new Apple Watch models in the second half of 21 at the earliest.”
Also in the podcast episode, Prosser vaguely hints at a new AirTag magnetic accessory of some kind, but no further details were provided.
