NEW ON THE BLOG: Chicken Shawarma with Garlic Sauce! If you haven’t tried shawarma before, it’s a Lebanese dish that is packed full of warm spices, but with bright lemon and garlic flavor. It’s my favorite thing to order at our local Lebanese cafe.
Traditional shawarma is roasted on a spit in its own fat, making the meat extra juicy. I lightened it up a bit by using chicken breast, streamlined the cooking so you can make it in about 15 minutes (plus marinating time), and tried out versions in both my air fryer and on my grill/skillet for perfectly charred yet tender meat no matter what equipment you have! And the creamy yet pungent sauce just rounds everything out.
If you’re on the WW Blue or Purple plans, you can have the meat and sauce for 0 SP total!! That leaves plenty of room for warmed up pita and rice pilaf. If you’re on Green, it’s just 2 SP for the chicken and 0 for the sauce. Not bad at all! And only 277 calories, with a whopping 40g protein per serving.
