“Lucas surprised me with a bag of gummy worms, made one worm dance and peck me on the cheek.” 💚

I remember when this case was happening and feeling the rage, anger, disgust for brock turner and persky and silently cheering on, applauding, screaming and wanting to somehow support to Emily Doe. Well, Emily Doe has a name and it’s Chanel Miller and what an amazing memoir of her experience. Words feel inadequate but this is definitely required reading for every BODY. I remember when Ms. Miller’s impact statement came out, I saved it in an electronic folder with my son’s name on it so I can have him read it in the near future. I have a daughter too but I’ve always felt strongly that in order for my daughter to feel safe in this world, I am hoping there is someone teaching their sons how to respect girls who become women. So I’m doing my part by trying to raise a son who will respect his partner as much as someone should respect his sister. Ms. Miller’s writing is spectacular and I urge you to read this! Thanks to sand_between_pages and booksandbecoming for putting together a group to read this. It was nice to have a space to share all the emotions that arise while reading this 💚
