“I sat with my beer and my curry, as Eiju shook, trembling slowly, and I did my best not to move.” 💙

Thank you gmabookclub for sending me a copy of this book so I could read along this month! It was a 5 star read for me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I fell in love with Benson and Mike. I think I’ve known Benson and Mike in my life. Their relationship is complicated and perhaps not that healthy but I loved being an observer into their life. It’s a quiet book but also so impactful. Beyond Benson and Mike’s relationship, it’s a book about family, love and obligation. The character I had the hardest time with was Mike’s mother. Just didn’t quite jive with her but appreciated her presence in the story. Oh! I loved the photos that appeared throughout the book- made it feel intimate and personal… This is the first work I’ve read by Washington and now I have to read more – I’m hooked! 💙

  1. I’m glad to hear you liked it! I have a copy but have heard some mixed things. I plan to read Lot first!
