Without a doubt, the document, image and video design platform, Canva, has evolved over the years and has become increasingly popular. To maintain it, he has taken it upon himself to keep adding new and better features to his service. Now, so you can get the most out of it, we’ll tell you how to turn your Canva presentations into videos with simple steps.

Do I need to know layout or editing to use Canva?

No. One of the great advantages offered by this platform is that it is open to all audiences and has a simple and friendly design. Thanks to this, it has options and functionalities both for the most experienced users and for those who want to try to design for the first time.

With its template system and specialized search, it is certain that we can find an option that inspires us, or that simply seems perfect for our design or presentation. The best of all? At the end of the day we can convert our work to the format we want – which includes videos.

Do you want to know how? Here we tell you step by step!

Step 1 – Select the type of presentation we want

Converting a Canva presentation to video is a simple process. But, if we want to have the best results, it is important that we think about the final product that we are first. For example, we will not need the same parameters for a YouTube video as for one designed for Instagram stories.

For this reason, the first step to take is to write the word “Presentation” in Canva’s “Search” bar. There we will get a list of alternatives immediately with different measures. The most common is 1920 × 1080, as they are not only high-quality dimensions, but also correspond to common video formats.

Then, any of the options with these measures may be useful to us. On the other hand, if we want a video that is more appreciable on mobile phones, we can choose the specific alternative for this format.

Once we have selected the size of the canvas that we will use, Canva will give us a series of options with different templates. Here, we can use the buttons in the upper left part of the screen to detail if we want them in a specific color or theme.

Likewise, we can take the opportunity to observe the Canva Pro templates that, in general, are more varied in their contents and have more ways of customization for each of them. Once we have selected the one we want, we will only have to click on it and follow the link that Canva will open to the editable version.

Step 2 – Add the content you want to the presentation

Once we are in the Canva editor, we will see on our left a vertical black bar with all the platform options. Templates will come first, which we can review and exchange at any time if we wish.

Then there are the “Elements” that contain the categories of “Photo”, “Video”, “Audio”, “Resources” and “Frames” that we can use to personalize our presentation. Finally, under this there is also the option to upload your own files to the Canva cloud and include them in your work.

This will be the time to let our creativity flow and empty onto canvas all the videos, images and animations that we create suitable for our presentation, since all of these will then be saved when converting the slides of a video, directly from Canva.

Step 3 – Edit and personalize your content

In the upper left part of the screen – this time in the horizontal white bar immediately above our design – we will see two options. The first icon will allow us to place animations on each sheet –or directly on all of them– just like in PowerPoint.

For its part, the second, which has the shape of a clock, will allow us to choose how long the visible sheet will pass before it is automatically changed. Thanks to this, we can control in detail the speed at which our video moves, pausing or accelerating in the necessary places.

Likewise, when you double click on the videos, a long line will appear in the same white bar with the total duration of the video. If we want a clip to be a little shorter, we only have to indicate it by writing the time we want it to be, or by cutting it “by hand” on the timeline. Something similar can be used with the audios, which you can choose without problems from the “Elements” tab.

Now, as you can see in the image that we present to you, not all resources are always free and, specifically, some, such as audios or videos, are not usually as varied in the basic version. For this reason, if you want to not only convert your presentations to videos, but also take them to the next level, We recommend that you venture to try Canva Pro.

Step 4 – Download your video!

Finally, when everything is ready and you are satisfied with the result, you just have to go to the blue horizontal bar and look at the options on the right. There you will see the possibility of “presenting” your creation directly from Canva, of sharing it and finally, in the option with the arrow pointing down, the download alternative will appear.

From there, all you have to do is choose the video format – that is, MP4 – and the slides of the presentation that you want to convert with Canva. Then you just have to select “Download” and that’s it! You will have on your PC a video created and edited from a Canva presentation.
