“He sees his niece braiding the loaf of challah.” 🤎

This month’s gmabookclub pick was amazing! The Book of V tells the story of 3 women, one in biblical times, one in the 1970s and one in present day. Each story shares insights on womanhood with a feminist lens. I have to say that I am not usually drawn to the oldest timeline in a book but in this book, Esther’s story had me enraptured – it was the most compelling for me. The retelling of Esther’s life was so vivid and brought that time period to life. In terms of the other 2 timelines, there was a moment when I gasped out loud with an a-ha moment. Of course seeing how these 3 timelines weave together is a wonderful journey. I loved one reviewer’s description that this book is like a challah of the three stories – what a perfect description. If you enjoyed The Red Tent, you may really enjoy this book!
Thank you henryholtbooks for sending me this gorgeous copy!!! 🤎
