“Downstairs, he poured himself a double shot of tequila- something he hadn’t done since the Tex-Mex hoedown at the Legion Hall two summers ago.” 💙

Read this with a group hosted by thebookclubmom and we have been reading Kristin Hannah backlist books! This story was really predictable and melodramatic. I am a huge fan of Kristin Hannah and as I have read more of her backlist, I can really tell the progression she’s made as a writer and I love that! Her more recent works are much more substantial but one things remains the same – she definitely knows how to write emotion and relationships. Even with some of the cheese factor in this one, the core of how characters feel and emote in her stories always makes me well up with tears at least once per book! Her later books had me sobbing but even her earlier works definitely choke me up at times. If you’re looking for a quick, emotional read this one may be for you! Others have described it as a Hallmark movie in a book and that really sums it up for me as well. 💙

  1. Love this! I just posted something similar about my experience working through Katherine Center’s older books.

  2. I still have not read Hannah even though I have two of her books on my shelf waiting for me 🤦‍♀️
